Design Introduction

The website design process moves from an outline sketch through to a full detailed design.

The outline sketched design is known as a ‘Wireframe’. A design wireframe is a basic visual guide that represents the skeletal structure of a web page or app interface. It focuses on layout, content placement, and functionality without including detailed design elements like colours, fonts, or images.

This wireframe is accompanied by a written client brief.

With this client brief and design wireframe agreed, we can move onto the full design. The full design completes the process, it adds a colour schema, the text fonts, plus any images and/or videos.

Website designs are sized for PC desktop, tablet and mobile app devices.

Roles & Responsibilities

The minimum a client needs to provide is a detailed client brief. They may also supply the design wireframe, if they wish to reduce their costs.

A client will also need to supply any required images, in a size and format that can be worked with. More generic images can be supplied by myself, if needed.

I will then creates the full design, based on the client brief and design wireframe. I use design software that allows me to share the design with clients, as it unfolds.

I use classic graphic design techniques, together with modern website and app design patterns, and user behaviour studies, to create an optimal design solution.

For a website, the way I work is that I create a desktop version of the website, with two or three client reviews. Once the full desktop design is agreed, it can be fine-tuned for both tablet devices and mobile phone sizes.

For an app, we go straight to the full design, again with two or three client reviews.

Details of the client requirements are here (to be linked).

Website Build

This follows straight on from the full website design process.

I currently only build websites using WordPress and Elementor website design software, with appropriate plugins (e.g. WooCommerce).

Build Note

When you commit to a specific build software, you are tied to using it for the life of the website.

This means you will need to meet the ongoing support and/or costs of these specific software products.
